The twenty nawales

Q'anil

nawal 8 of 20 · in Yucatec Maya Lamat

Its name is linked with the seed and the colour yellow, the colour of ripe corn. It is the symbol of the four seasons and of the life of people, animals and plants: what is sown and sprouts. Of people born on Q'anil the Zunil tradition says that they are sensitive and need the support and closeness of their own people.

After the text of the Komon Tohil group of K'iche' daykeepers (ajq'ijab') of Zunil, Quetzaltenango, published by the National Museum of the American Indian (Smithsonian) in “Living Maya Time”.

A living calendar

The Cholq'ij is a living spirituality, not a memory of a vanished people. The meaning of a day is given by an ajq'ij, with the person in front of them, looking at the nawal, the number and the rest of the count; this page can only give the general frame and predicts nothing. If you want to know more about your nawal, go to an ajq'ij of a Maya community.

Dates are calculated with the GMT correlation (584283), the one that agrees with the count the ajq'ijab' of the Guatemalan highlands have kept without a break.
