Its name comes from 'dog'. It stands for the five senses and is the nawal of material and spiritual justice. On Tz'i' people ask that poverty, misfortune and bad habits be kept away, and to be free of criticism and rumours. People born on this day are said to be intelligent and protective of what is theirs.
After the text of the Komon Tohil group of K'iche' daykeepers (ajq'ijab') of Zunil, Quetzaltenango, published by the National Museum of the American Indian (Smithsonian) in “Living Maya Time”.
Other readings
Readings differ widely here: in 1970s Momostenango Tedlock recorded Tz'i' as a weak day linked with doubt and sexual faults; current Maya-authored texts present it as the nawal of justice and authority. 7 Tz'i' is the eve of 8 B'atz'.

A living calendar
The Cholq'ij is a living spirituality, not a memory of a vanished people. The meaning of a day is given by an ajq'ij, with the person in front of them, looking at the nawal, the number and the rest of the count; this page can only give the general frame and predicts nothing. If you want to know more about your nawal, go to an ajq'ij of a Maya community.
Dates are calculated with the GMT correlation (584283), the one that agrees with the count the ajq'ijab' of the Guatemalan highlands have kept without a break.
