The lunar nodes

The lunar nodes are the two points where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's. Only there can eclipses happen, when a new or full moon falls near them. The nodes move backwards through the zodiac, once in 18.6 years, and stay about a year and a half in each sign. Astrology reads in the north node the way a person is to grow, and in the south node opposite the familiar they may leave behind.

The north node is now in Aquarius, since 19 August 2026; it moves into Capricorn on 7 March 2028.
