New moon in February 2028
Friday 25 February 2028, 10:37 UTC
The Sun and the Moon stand together in the zodiac sign of Pisces. The Moon is invisible: it is in the daytime sky with the Sun and turns its dark side to us.
What tradition sees in the new moon
Today the first step counts, not the plan for it.
The sign of Pisces
Pisces closes the zodiac, shortly before the March equinox, and astrologers give it everything that is hard to grasp: empathy, imagination and a fine sense for moods. Pisces soaks up what happens around it and so needs time to withdraw. Neptune, its modern ruler, stands for dreams and the dissolving of boundaries. Its task, it is said, is to feel with others without losing itself in them.
When to look for the first crescent
The thin crescent of the waxing Moon appears one or two evenings after the new moon, low in the west shortly after sunset. Exactly when depends on where you are: the visibility of the new crescent.
