New moon in May 2029
Sunday 13 May 2029, 13:42 UTC
The Sun and the Moon stand together in the zodiac sign of Taurus. The Moon is invisible: it is in the daytime sky with the Sun and turns its dark side to us.
What tradition sees in the new moon
Today the first step counts, not the plan for it.
The sign of Taurus
Taurus is the sign of what lasts. Astrologers credit it with patience, a feel for pleasure and a firm footing: what it has, it holds, and what it starts, it builds slowly and solidly. Venus, its ruler, stands here less for falling in love than for beauty, good food and things you can touch. Its strength is reliability, its weakness a resistance to any change, even a necessary one.
When to look for the first crescent
The thin crescent of the waxing Moon appears one or two evenings after the new moon, low in the west shortly after sunset. Exactly when depends on where you are: the visibility of the new crescent.
