Zodiac sign on 20 April

On 20 April the Sun changes sign in some years, from Aries to Taurus. If you were born on this day, you are Aries or Taurus, depending on the year and the hour.

The Sun does not enter a new sign at the same hour every year: the calendar year is not exactly as long as the solar year, and the leap day only evens out the difference every four years. In the years below the Sun changed sign on exactly this day, at the time given in UTC (London winter time): if you were born before it, you are Aries; after it, Taurus. In the other years it was Taurus all day.

♈︎ Aries

Aries opens the zodiac: the astrological year begins with it, at the March equinox. Tradition describes Aries as a beginner in the truest sense, quick, direct and with little patience for long preambles. Mars, its planet, stands for drive and courage, but also for a love of a fight. What an Aries starts gets momentum; whether it gets finished is another question. Its task, it is said, is to know its own will without walking over others.

♉︎ Taurus

Taurus is the sign of what lasts. Tradition gives it patience, a sense for pleasure and a firm footing: what it has, it holds, and what it starts, it builds slowly and solidly. Venus, its planet, stands here less for falling in love than for beauty, good food and what you can touch. Its strength is reliability, its weakness the resistance to every change, even the necessary one.
