Zodiac sign on 24 October

On 24 October the Sun changes sign in some years, from Libra to Scorpio. If you were born on this day, you are Libra or Scorpio, depending on the year and the hour.

The Sun does not enter a new sign at the same hour every year: the calendar year is not exactly as long as the solar year, and the leap day only evens out the difference every four years. In the years below the Sun changed sign on exactly this day, at the time given in UTC (London winter time): if you were born before it, you are Libra; after it, Scorpio. In the other years it was Scorpio all day.

♎︎ Libra

Libra begins at the September equinox, when day and night are the same length, and balance is its theme. Tradition describes it as friendly, fair and intent on equilibrium, with a sense of form and beauty. Venus, its planet, stands here for relationships and harmony. A Libra likes to weigh things up for a long time because it wants to be fair to everyone. Its task is to decide in the end.

♏︎ Scorpio

Scorpio stands in the northern autumn, when nature there withdraws, and tradition gives it depth, passion and endurance. It wants to know what lies beneath the surface and won't be fobbed off with half measures. Its feelings are strong and seldom loud. It is thought of as loyal and unyielding, in trust as in mistrust. Its task, it is said, is transformation: letting go so that something new can come.
