♋︎ The lucky star of Cancer: Tarf
The brightest star in the constellation Cancer (β Cnc), magnitude 3.52.
Cancer is a quiet constellation without a very bright star. Its brightest, an orange giant, is about 290 light years away. In the middle of Cancer lies the Beehive Cluster, a lovely sight through binoculars.
It stands highest around 10 pm in February. It can be seen from everywhere north of 62°S, and it never sets north of 81°N.
