Tarot · The Major Arcana

Judgement

Judgement: An angel in the clouds blows a trumpet hung with a banner bearing a cross; below, men, women and children rise with open arms from coffins floating on the water.

The picture

An angel in the clouds blows a trumpet hung with a banner bearing a cross; below, men, women and children rise with open arms from coffins floating on the water.

The meaning

The angel calls, and the people rise. The tradition reads the card as awakening, as taking stock, and as a call you want to follow. It stands for a fresh start built on what you have understood. Readers also see in it a reconciliation with what has been.

Reversed

Reversed, it is read as hesitating to follow an inner call, or judging yourself too harshly.

In love

In love it is read as a fresh start, reconciliation or a relationship that reaches a new stage.

At work

At work it stands for a vocation, an important decision or a result coming into view.

As your card of the day

Today is a good day to take stock, kindly and honestly. What you see may carry you further.

Judgement stands for a call. If something quietly beckons today, listen more closely.

The Major Arcana are the 22 trump cards, from the Fool at zero to the World at twenty-one. The tradition reads them as stations on a life's journey: large themes that touch everyone at some point.
