Tarot · The Major Arcana
The Sun

- Joy
- clarity
- vitality
The picture
A large sun with a face shines above a wall lined with sunflowers, and in front of it a naked child rides a white horse, holding a red banner.
The meaning
The Sun is one of the brightest cards in the whole deck. The tradition reads it as joy, success and clarity. It stands for vitality, for warmth and for the kind of light heart children have. What was uncertain by moonlight now lies open.
Reversed
Reversed, it is read as joy only briefly hidden, like the sun behind a cloud.
In love
In love it is read as happiness, openness and shared joy.
At work
At work it stands for success, recognition and work you enjoy.
As your card of the day
Today can simply be lovely. If you can, step out into the light for a few minutes.
The Sun stands for clarity. Whatever becomes visible today, you may welcome it gladly.
The Major Arcana are the 22 trump cards, from the Fool at zero to the World at twenty-one. The tradition reads them as stations on a life's journey: large themes that touch everyone at some point.
