Zodiac sign on 22 September

On 22 September the Sun changes sign in some years, from Virgo to Libra. If you were born on this day, you are Virgo or Libra, depending on the year and the hour.

The Sun does not enter a new sign at the same hour every year: the calendar year is not exactly as long as the solar year, and the leap day only evens out the difference every four years. In the years below the Sun changed sign on exactly this day, at the time given in UTC (London winter time): if you were born before it, you are Virgo; after it, Libra. In the other years it was Virgo all day.

♍︎ Virgo

Virgo stands at harvest time in the Northern Hemisphere, where the tradition was born, and it is given an eye for what is useful and what is not. It is thought of as precise, helpful and practical, someone who sorts, improves and rarely makes a fuss about it. Mercury, its planet, shows itself here as the testing mind. Its weakness is a tendency to self-criticism, its strength service to the concrete: with Virgo, things get finished.

♎︎ Libra

Libra begins at the September equinox, when day and night are the same length, and balance is its theme. Tradition describes it as friendly, fair and intent on equilibrium, with a sense of form and beauty. Venus, its planet, stands here for relationships and harmony. A Libra likes to weigh things up for a long time because it wants to be fair to everyone. Its task is to decide in the end.
