Tarot · The Major Arcana
The Star

- Hope
- renewal
- calm
The picture
A naked woman kneels by a pool and pours water from two jugs, one into the pool and one onto the land, beneath a large eight-pointed star and seven smaller stars.
The meaning
After the Tower comes the Star, and the sky is clear again. The tradition reads the card as hope, confidence and quiet renewal. It stands for faith in your own path and for strength that returns. The woman pours without hurry, as if she had all the time there is.
Reversed
Reversed, it is read as discouragement, or hope you cannot feel just now.
In love
In love it is read as trust, openness and a bond that brings calm.
At work
At work it stands for inspiration, staying power and goals that are far away but in sight.
As your card of the day
Hope can be quiet today. A small bright spot is enough to light the day.
The Star stands for renewal. Give yourself something today that fills you up again.
The Major Arcana are the 22 trump cards, from the Fool at zero to the World at twenty-one. The tradition reads them as stations on a life's journey: large themes that touch everyone at some point.
